With the opening ceremony of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition just hours away, the excitement is really building at the RDS. After 12 long months of creativity, ingenuity and hard work it’s now time for all students to set up their stands and await the arrival of the judges.

A record number of schools have entered the competition this year which shows the ever increasing level of interest in science and technology on the island. I believe this event is an excellent opportunity for the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs to showcase the skills which will play an integral part in our economic future.

I am very impressed with the number of students who have braved the bad weather to get to the RDS, and I hope that visitors will come along to support them and see the exceptionally high standard of their work. In addition to the extensive line up of fascinating projects, there is also a programme of performances that will entertain students, visitors and guests from Thursday 14th January until Saturday 16th.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the students the best of luck in the competition and hope their interest in science and technology is boosted as a result of their experiences here at the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Don’t forget you can see the opening ceremony live on at 14.00.

Hopefully I’ll see you at the exhibition.

Chris Clark

Chief Executive Officer, BT
